One of Al-Shabaab’s most recent attacks was on the Garissa University College in Garissa, Kenya. Al-Shabaab spared the Muslims and killed or held hostage the Christians that were present. Many students woke up to the sound of gunfire and some were beheaded. The college was besieged for about fifteen hours before Kenyan police and military forces were able to kill the terrorists. The attackers were only four gunmen strapped with explosives. Several border states are now operating under a night-time curfew and many Western countries are urging their citizens to stay away from much of Kenya.
Al-Shabaab is launching attacks against Kenya for its military operations against them in Somalia, but I really don’t believe that the attacks would stop if the Kenyan military withdrew from Somalia. The Kenyan border with Somalia is also not guarded to well, and President Uhuru Kenyatta wants to speed up the recruitment of 10,000 police to aid in defense. I pray that Kenya is able to defeat their enemies.
