Don Lemon must be fired!

Look at the face of hate and oppression. Two minutes of hate for you!
Look at the face of hate and oppression. Two minutes of hate for you!

A petition going around is calling for Don Lemon to be fired. As I’m typing this post, it has about 35,000 signatures. Let’s take a look at why Mr. Lemon should be fired according to current prog logic:

Since the tragic incident of Trayvon Martin in 2012, CNN anchor Don Lemon has consistently antagonized and defamed the characteristics of African-Americans on the national scale in his mass communications.”

No details are given about what Mr. Lemon did to offend progressive sensibilities, it’s probably just there to get people riled up.

From the holding of the ‘N’ word sign before the national audience…”

To put this into some context, there was a debate between Mr. Lemon and legal analyst Sunny Hostin about whether it was acceptable for President Obama to use the word “nigger” in the context of a radio address he gave. I would agree with the President that the ability to use (or not use) a single word in polite company alone is not the metric to determine if an individual is racist.

Why isn’t Ms. Hostin acting so antagonized about the lyrics commonly found in rap music? If the discussion the President had about racism and slurs offended Ms. Hostin’s delicate sensibilities I wonder how she feels about hip-hop groups like Niggaz wit Attitudes, 50 Cent and various other rap groups and stars? How offensive are the songs that they produced? Let’s take a look:

No moral outrage over those songs? I guess that it’s art, to someone anyway.

“…to disrespecting the Mayor of Baltimore…”

I Frankly, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake deserved all of the “disrespect” that she got. She “…gave those who wished to destroy space to do that as well” and her city burned as a result. The Baltimore PD has arrested far fewer people over the last several months and crime has skyrocketed. But sure, no one should be able to ask the Mayor of Baltimore any questions.

“…to his most recent comments of the unfortunate incident where a student was removed from her chair like a rag-doll by a police officer,”

Let’s take a look at some of what Mr. Lemon had to say about the aforementioned incident:

Seems reasonable enough to me. But this is probably the discussion that has drawn the ire and disgust of those who signed the petition:

But of course, wanting to prosecute the officer in a court of law rather than on a media show just isn’t good enough for progressives. I thought that liberals claimed to care about logic, facts, and evidence? Mr. Lemon hasn’t stated that what the officer did was right, justified, or legal. One of the other interesting things to note from some of the video comments is that people don’t seem to think that a woman or teenager without a gun can’t be dangerous or commit violence. Might explain why gender disparities in sentencing favor being a woman far more than being a white male. That’s a tangent I should discuss another time though.

“…Mr. Lemon has avoided the chance to state the obvious: the challenges that face African-Americans are real and that solutions need to be found.

I thought that he was just supposed to report the news in an unbiased fashion as a journalist? I guess he’s supposed to be in lock-step with social justice warrior ideology thus, he must fired for his transgressions. I wonder if Jamell Henderson ever talks about the challenges of gang members butchering each other and innocent citizens as they do in many progressives cities? Has he ever decried the violence going on in cities like Chicago? Let’s illustrate Chicago values:

Mr. Lemon has failed his responsibility because he seems to forget the true essence of journalism: to present the facts and not judge, defame or antagonize. We, the people, want a journalist and an anchor that will not be afraid to accept the facts that are occurring within the African-American community and who will encourage our people the same way that person will encourage others across the board. We, the people, have no confidence in Mr. Lemon’s ability to do that. Therefore, we are asking CNN to remove him from his position.”

Oh, the irony of this entire statement. Let’s also take a look at what some of the supporters of this position had to say. It simply is astounding.

Out of curiosity, how many riots have been started over black cops killing innocent white men? This might go against current progressive doctrine, but perhaps not every police shooting is because of racism. Funny enough, hundreds of students walked out of class to support officer Ben Fields.

According to individuals like Mr. Robert Perkins, anyone who didn’t denounce the officer and (gasp) dared to support him is a “fuckin coon” and needs to stop “cooning“.

If you’re interested, you could sign a petition asking CNN to give Don Lemon a raise. To close out this post, lets look at some of the comments typed up about this last video. The logic amongst many of them is simply amazing. As always, do let me know what you think by leaving a comment and share this post with your friends.
