Ballarat is a ghost town that can be reached by the graded and very wide Ballarat Road. There aren’t that many buildings remaining and no permanent residents but fellow travelers and whoever owns this land actually leaves the general store stocked up with some food and water. Every November the California Four Wheel Drive Association holds the Panamint Valley Days in this area and the area fills up with hundreds of four-wheelers. During the warmer months it can reach over 120 °F and only go down to about 100 °F at night which is also when fewer people tread here. I happened to drive through here in May right as a low pressure system came in and gave me some nice 80 °F days.
