Inane thoughts on liberty from Pope Francis

Pope Francis made some interesting remarks about free speech on a flight to the Philippines a few days ago. The pontiff has stated that people’s faith should not be insulted and that they should not be provoked in such a manner. Pope Francis quipped that “If my good friend Doctor Gasparri speaks badly of my mother, he can expect to get punched” and “You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faith of others. You cannot make fun of the faith of others. There is a limit.” I simply can’t agree with the sentiment Pope Francis holds. A society isn’t really free if not able to criticize, satirize, or insult organized religions, Islam or otherwise. The pontiff’s not the only one who shares such feelings towards Charlie Hebdo though, depending upon which leftist you ask Charlie Hebdo had it coming for taunting “religious fanatics” and that the material deriding the Pope, Roman Catholic Church, Jews, and various political leaders was minimal compared to insults against Islam and Mohammed. A simple Google image search shows other distasteful depictions of various groups and individuals, though other such depictions aren’t what got twelve people killed in recent attacks. Some of my questions for Pope Francis would be: what does count as acceptable criticism, what is the limit and why can’t I make fun of someone’s faith?

It’s not like the Middle East and North Africa aren’t filled with Jew-bashing cartoons or satire, but one until recently obscure French magazine calls for a bunch of killing I guess. Charlie Hebdo protests and killings have continued in earnest in Pakistan, Niger, and Algeria over further depictions of Mohammed and Islam. It’s pretty clear that Charlie Hebdo meant to make offensive criticisms of Islam, but they seem to treat everyone else in a disrespectful manner also. I guess for some leftists it makes sense to compare a lawsuit by Jerry Falwell against Larry Flint (in which the Supreme Court ruled against Falwell) to twelve people getting shot and killed. That’s moral equivalency for you, I guess.

As you can tell by some of the leftist articles I’ve linked to, much of the blame for the attacks in Paris is the fault of Western imperialism, capitalism, zionism, oppresion and other -ism’s that only the U.S. and Western Europe have engaged in. Some people act as if: the Umayyad Caliphate didn’t conquer an empire spanning from Persia, to North Africa, to Anatolia, to Iberia, that the Ottomans didn’t forge an empire of the same scale that bordered Austria, or that General Tikka Khan and the Pakistani Army butchered hundreds of thousands of their own people. Any talk of atrocities committed by a majority Muslim army is simply a conspiracy theory. Only evil white people, Sikhs, or Indians commit atrocities or use propaganda.

As you can see, I’ve posted up more of Charlie Hebdo, though not many depictions of Muslims this time since some will always decry how Charlie Hebdo only “minimally” castigates other religions. What do those of you reading this think, that Charlie Hebdo had it coming, they’re hypocritical, or is everything they’ve done free speech?

Al Sharpton found a new source of racism, The Oscar Awards!

Maybe Al Sharpton was having a slow day, perhaps all of the world’s other problems are solved or more likely he just needed someone else to shakedown. Charlatan, er uh, Reverend Al Sharpton is calling for an emergency meeting to discuss the “appalling” Oscar nominations because this year, no black people were nominated. Sharpton quipped that “The movie industry is like the Rocky Mountains, the higher you get, the whiter it gets”. Even though The Oscars’ president Cheryl Isaacs is black, she’s a racist that has considerable trouble recognizing diversity. I wonder, what exactly does Al Sharpton intend to promulgate at this meeting? How to make money of this perceived slight, how to get people fired, how to talk to a teleprompter or just how to be a racist in general. Al Sharpton would never ever be racist himself right? Perpetuating a false rape case or anti-Semitic riots would be beneath him.

Obviously, Cheryl Isaacs is a racist pig who profits off the suffering of others.

I’m sure that Sharpton has a great solution, and I’m not talking about another way for him to make even more money and add on to his $4.5 million in back taxes. I can see it now, affirmative action for The Oscars. They’ll be awards specifically for homosexuals, African-Americans, Asian-Americans, Hispanics and award for Al Sharpton himself every year (No better way to avoid lawsuits and protests). Who cares about real talent, nothing but race matters and you’re a cis, racist and evil white man if you believe otherwise. If you don’t happen to be a white man, you must be a “race-traitor” and obviously aren’t thinking left, I mean straight.

Al Sharpton shall surely bring more laughs for years to come. It seems as though Al Sharpton will also be able to make money off of the suffering and anguish of others sadly enough, for quite a long time. Perhaps one day he’ll stop being such a racist agitator but then again, I might also see pigs grow wings and fly into outer space. Maybe I’ll get sued by the National Action Network (NAN) just for typing this up? As with many of the links from Yahoo! I post up, don’t forget to read the comments. Look, free community college! That’ll be $60 billion (and then some)

The President recently announced his intentions to make community colleges free for at least the first two years of attendance. When he says free, he means sixty billion (or more) with some unspecified amount of money to be paid by the states. There’s you’re government at work, taking your money and giving it back. If you thought the the current Federal college student debt of over one trillion wasn’t enough, you’re obviously wrong, very wrong. For those of you who who thought that government policies such as the ACA would make healthcare cheaper and with lower deductibles, this is obviously the right path and a godsend. As we all know, when the government says something is will be free or cheaper than before that is must be completely true.

I guess that all of the student die-ins, protests, screaming, and complaining about debt have finally made people pay attention to them. It’s not like they were studying or working anyway. Obviously, all of the protesting students are enlsaved. It turns out a large portion of college students don’t even realize that they’re in debt according to an article from The Guardian. Just think, these “adults” are smart enough to go to college yet: can’t read a contract, have no idea what they signed, don’t bother to look for cheaper colleges, don’t understand the concept of credit, don’t have self-control over spending, or seem to understand that they’re responsible for the debt that they get themselves into. Perhaps dumping one-hundred thousand dollars you don’t have into a humanities degree isn’t a great idea? Clearly, their debt needs to be forgiven, subsidized, and the college debt bubble needs to grow even bigger. What’s a little more debt in the grand scheme of things? Perhaps the “populist” Elizabeth Warren could give back some of her exorbitant salary she earned while teaching at Harvard and decrying the expense of higher education? Do leftists not see the irony in supporting the rich while railing against them? It’s OK to be rich when you vote left I guess. When Elizabeth Warren says that she’s not wealthy, she really means it! Just don’t ask her how much money she has, got it? Come meet Mattel’s newest product, Asian-American Doll!

Mattel Inc. recently spent an extravagant amount of money on countless focus groups and sensitivity meetings to finally bring the customer a doll that won’t offend anyone whatsoever, the Asian-American Doll. Mattel expended quite a sum of money and effort to ensure that your daughter (or son if he’s into that) won’t find anything that hurts their feelings or reinforces any stereotypes but, much more importantly social justice warriors (SJW) won’t find any reason to get offended either. For as we all know, if anyone’s going to be offended it will be a leftist and they will sue and protest against until all opposition is silenced. Hell, even in films for adults the only people you can insult, poke fun at, or cast a bad light on in any way are Nazis. Even that last group may not be fair game for much longer, maybe liberals will start claiming we’re hurting their feelings too.

In any case, Mattel made sure that there’s nothing about Asian-American Doll that could offend anyone in any way whatsoever. If you don’t believe me, just watch the commercial and you too will see just how racially neutral and completely generic Asian American Doll is. Enjoy!

Possibly the worst anti-gun PSA ever

The anti-gun nuts on the left have put out a new anti-gun PSA that’s just full of good advice for your child. Obviously, it’s a great idea to take their parents’ gun, take it to school in their backpack, point it at their teacher, and then drop the gun on her desk. Such great advice from the anti-gun liberals. I wonder if the director of the video Rejina Sincic, counted how many felonies that the child would’ve performed in real life? I’m so glad that comments were allowed on the Youtube page for this video. As of this writing, 73 people gave the video a thumps up and 11,181 gave the video a thumbs down. Please keep the laughs coming Rejina Sincic, it’s really quite hilarious.

One thing I’ll never understand about liberals is how they say that they’re anti-authoritarian and cops shouldn’t be trusted, yet they still believe citizens shouldn’t be able to carry guns. I guess they always trust the government with weapons, and believe that people won’t kill without guns. Perhaps I just have gun fever. Don’t forget to watch the video, you’ll get a good laugh out of it. Don’t forget to let Rejina Sincic know how you feel either on the webpage.
